MAJ GEN NITIN GADKARI- "Babuji vs Pune Traffic - A Greek Tragedy with Horns"

Babuji, an innocent Punekar armed with a vintage Maruti 800, made the fatal mistake of believing noon was a "safe" time to travel four kilometers to a Ganapati pandal. This was his first strategic error, comparable to Napoleon invading Russia.

As soon as he entered Pune traffic, he discovered that the city had secretly merged with Bangalore in spirit. Traffic jams now exist 24x7, including times when, by all laws of nature and logic, they should not.

After spending enough time at a traffic signal to complete a postgraduate degree, Babuji finally found an open stretch of road. Just then, two motorcycles carrying what seemed like the entire youth population of Maharashtra emerged from the wrong side of a one-way street. When Babuji protested, they informed him, politely in typical road-rage fashion, that he was the problem.

Seeking justice, Babuji approached a traffic policewoman. She listened with the enthusiasm of a person watching paint dry and offered profound philosophical wisdom:

"Let them die. Then they'll learn."

Thus, Pune Police introduced Babuji to Zen Buddhism.

After an hour-long journey covering a distance normally traversed by a healthy tortoise in fifteen minutes, Babuji reached the venue. But a new boss battle appeared: Parking.

After travelling another kilometre in search of a parking spot, he finally parked and marched to the function. Seconds later, an announcement shattered his soul:

"All cars parked outside are about to be wheel-jammed."

Babuji sprinted back like an Olympic athlete, only to discover that among dozens of illegally parked cars, destiny had selected his vehicle first for punishment.

When he questioned the police inspector about this extraordinary coincidence, the officer explained the principles of law enforcement:

  1. The law is equal for all.
  2. Some people are more equal than others.
  3. Don't take panga.

Defeated, fined, and emotionally bankrupt, Babuji returned to his car. His wife then conducted a detailed performance review of his driving, parking, timing, decision-making, and possibly his entire life.

But by then, Babuji had achieved enlightenment.

He sat motionless, immune to traffic, fines, insults, police lectures, and marital artillery.

In the end, Pune traffic accomplished what centuries of saints, sages, and yogis could not:

It transformed Babuji into a Zen master.

Moral of the story: In Pune, reaching your destination is optional. Achieving spiritual awakening is compulsory. 🚗🛵🚦🧘‍♂️😄

few humorous anecdotes that blend doctors and the Indian Armed Forces:

  1. The Fitness Test: During a routine fitness test, a soldier gasped, "Sir, I think I’m having a heart attack!" The doctor, without missing a beat, replied, "Don’t worry, it’s just your heart telling you to take it easy on the parathas!"

  2. The Prescription: A soldier came to the military doctor complaining of insomnia. The doctor prescribed him a herbal tea. The soldier exclaimed, "Doc, I need something stronger!" The doctor quipped, "Sure, how about a night watch with a million mosquitoes? That’ll put you right to sleep!"

  3. The Consultation: A young recruit went to the army doctor, saying he felt weak. The doctor checked his vitals and said, "You need to eat more!" The recruit responded, "But Doctor, I eat more than the entire unit combined!" The doctor raised an eyebrow and replied, "Ah! I see the problem: your food is still in the kitchen!"

  4. The Bandage Saga: After a minor injury, a soldier was bandaged up and told to rest. He dramatically said, “Doc, am I going to survive this?” The doctor replied, “Of course! Your bandage is tougher than some of our soldiers!”

  5. The Diagnosis: A soldier walked into the clinic complaining of a sore throat. The doctor examined him and said, "It looks like you’ve been shouting too much during drills!" The soldier replied, "Well, what do you expect? I thought we were training for a war, not a singing competition!"

These light-hearted stories highlight the camaraderie and humor that often exist in the military, especially when it comes to the serious business of health!

Newton’s laws of marriage Dr Gurpreet Singh Battu-TOI

Newton was a brilliant man.

Then he got married.

As is the norm with every marriage, initial phase was extended honeymoon. Being a thinker, Newton would sit on his working desk and think and ponder about the working of the universe.

“Hello my dear.” His wife would croon while bringing him tea to his desk.

It was almost after eight months that she asked him to get his tea from the kitchen.

“Oh yes.” He responded while deep in his thoughts. He kept sitting and thinking. It was after one hour that his wife went to the kitchen and discovered the tea still sitting on the shelf. Tea was cold. It made Mrs Newton hot with anger.

“What is it with you?” she almost shouted. “You keep on sitting on that chair day in and day out without moving and I have to move all over the house to finish the chores.”

Newton was amazed at the observation of his wife and postulated his first law.

“A body that is at rest, will keep resting. And a body that is moving, will keep moving.”

He had this sense of achievement. But his wife was not impressed.

Things continued in the same manner for some more time. Soon Mrs Newton was fed up with the situation. More than one year after the marriage, she decided to nudge Newton and make him contribute towards household chores.

She went to Newton and shook his chair. “Get up man and help me in setting up the house.”

Newton looked up. He had a look at the face of missus. He knew he will have to postpone his brainstorming sessions and indulge in some bodily chores.

He came back to his desk after finishing the list. He reviewed the whole situation and replayed the scene in his mind over and over again. He realized he moved from his desk because his wife had applied force on him. Then he came up with his second law.

“Acceleration of a body depends upon the force applied to it.”

Now Mrs Newton knew how to get Newton going. She had to apply some force to move from his chair and make him do odd jobs around the house.

Newton made some further observations. His wife responded in a kind manner whenever he helped her. He once forgot to wish her on her birthday as he was very busy thinking about falling bodies. His wife feigned ignorance and did not wish him on his birthday. If he left laundry pending, his wife would add more dirty clothes to it. She cooked meals only if he peeled veggies.

He analysed the situation and came up with his third law.

“Every action has equal and opposite reaction.”

These laws apply perfectly to me. And to everyone around me who is married. I am sure these laws apply to every marriage.

Newton should have named them Laws of Marriage instead of Laws of Motion.

Apologies to Newton for time travel back into his married life
