KING SIZE LIFE Martyr Lt. Sushil Khajuria

They sacrifice their lives so that many of us can be secured, they stay away from their loved ones so that our loved ones will be safe and they face all hardships of life to make us sleep well at home. These few brave people sacrifice all comforts and privileges throughout their lives and even after that. Among these few brave hearts there are some who make ultimate sacrifice for their motherland. These soldiers are Martyr, a Martyr is indomitable, can move the mountains, can drink the oceans, can change the storms and can move on fire. Having the capacity with such intensity, a Martyr becomes immortal. Such is the capacity of Martyr Lt. Sushil Khajuria who sacrifices his life on September 27th, 2011 at the age of 26 years and one month in Kupwara district of Northern Kashmir.
Martyr Lt. Sushil Khajuria is a true solider by his heart, soul and attitude. He completed his school education from Kendriya Vidhayala, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. He was graduated in Government M.A.M P.G College, Jammu University from 2003-2006 where he joined the National Cadet Corp (N.C.C). In N.C.C, he represented the Jammu and Kashmir directorate in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi in 2005. One interesting incident regarding him was his selection in the quarter guard for the Parade. On the selection day while giving the trial in front of a senior officer, Sushil unfolded the magazine of the gun while showing his skills. The officer was so impressed by him that he was the first to be selected for the final day Parade on Republic day. This particular incident shows the level of energy and enthusiasm to do his works even then. Besides, he was the Senior Under Officer (S.U.O) of Armed Wing in the college. He was the man of integrity and humbleness who respects his seniors, dear to his batch mates and loved his junior. He believed in 'you can do it and you have to do it', 'never give up' and 'do you have it in you'. So, he was the source of inspiration for all of us. He was always there to help if someone has any genuine problem. That is why he was loved by one and all.
Being a son of solider, Sushil also aimed to become a soldier. Joining Indian Army was more than a job for him, it was his passion, his interest and he destined his destiny to become an Army Officer. Sushil was recommended for Officer Training Academy (O.T.A) in 2008 and joined O.T.A for training in March, 2009. He was commissioned in March 2010 as Lt. Sushil Khajuria and joined the Infantry Wing of Indian Army. He was first posted at the intense conflict area of Kupwara district in Northern Kashmir. There again he was loved and respected by all alike. The sacrifice made by Martyr Lt. Sushil Khajuria will be remembered by many generations. Though the Martyr has left for heavenly abode and left his memories alive, yet this brings in the vacuum for each of us and our motherland. This is the beauty of Martyrdom.
Now it is high time for all of us to realize that what it means if someone makes such supreme sacrifice for us. What are our responsibilities? How can we contribute to add up the meaning to these sacrifices? What we owe to them? It is important to recognize that few young brave soldiers make such sacrifices to keep us secured at our homes, they sacrifice their relations to keep our relations intact and they do not join their loved ones in joy or sorrow so that we can do it. Having such sacrifices either they are alive or Martyred, it makes us to work on our responsibilities for being true ourselves, our society and our nation. Each individual needs to be accountable for doing or for not doing anything. There is need to bring in attitude that 'if my country is not doing well then I am the first person responsible for that'. This attitude is required to be imbibing by all of us to bring in peace for these great souls. Every individual must be a soldier everywhere in order to fight the ills where ever they are. Only then we can somehow repay the debts of these Martyrs.
Martyr Lt. Sushil Khajuria you were with us, you are with us, you will be with us and with the generations to come who will acknowledge that there are very few Legends who made supreme sacrifice for their motherland at the age of 26 and you are among those. Great people are the soldiers and greater are those who make the sacrifice for others to live peacefully. Salute to Martyr Lt. Sushil Khajuria. May you live long.
