APPEAL FOR FLOOD RELIEF SEWA BHARTI J&K Dear brothers & sisters the incessant rains for the past 5-6 days have played a havoc with normal life in Jammu & Kashmir. Thousand of villages have reportedly been inundated. Though some people have been rescued thousands continue to be trapped. A rough and conservative estimate has put the death toll to 120, 105 in Jammu region, 15 deaths in Kashmir region. Hundreds of houses have been swept away leaving the people with no shelter and roof over their heads. The approach roads are blocked due to landslides we feel it our scared duty, to come to the help of our brethren in this hour of test and trust. Our teams have already been put on Sewa/ rescue work. But we without your help and support are unable to meet this challenge, so, we appeal to you to donate liberally in cash and kind and stand by your suffering brothers and sisters so as to make them feel that they are not alone in the hour of natural calamity. Our immediate tentative needs are: Blankets 3000 (1000 for Jammu & 2000 for Kashmir) Ration material Milk packets, Biscuits packets, New warm clothes for men, women & children, Tarpaulin -500 nos Material required for Kashmir be sent direct by air as the approach roads are blocked.
