येथील श्रीनगर- जम्मू महामार्गावर पाम्पोर येथे दहशतवाद्यांनी केंद्रीय राखीव पोलिस दलाच्या (सीआरपीएफ) ताफ्यावर केलेल्या हल्ल्यामध्ये एका कॅप्टनसह दोन जवान हुतात्मा झाले, तर एका नागरिकाचाही मृत्यू झाला आहे. या हल्ल्यात दहाजण जखमी झाले आहेत. हल्लेखोर दहशतवाद्यांनी नजीकच्या सरकारी इमारतीमध्ये आश्रय घेतला असून, अद्याप चकमक सुरु आहे.
पाम्पोर येथे शनिवारी रात्रीपासून दहशतवाद्यांसोबत चकमक सुरु आहे. दहशतवाद्यांच्या गोळीबारात 22 वर्षीय कॅप्टन पवन कुमार हुतात्मा झाले आहेत. तर, अन्य दोन जवानही हुतात्मा झाले आहेत. उद्यमशीलता विकास संस्थेच्या (ईडीआय) कार्यालयामध्ये शेकडो लोक अडकल्याची भीती असून, यामध्ये कर्मचारी आणि विद्यार्थ्यांचा समावेश आहे. सुरक्षेच्या कारणास्तव या इमारतीमधील काही लोकांना सुरक्षितस्थळी हलविले आहे, अन्य काही कर्मचारी आणि नागरिकांना सध्या सुरक्षितस्थळी हलविण्याचे प्रयत्न सुरू आहेत.
An Army paramilitary captain identified as Pawan Kumar was killed in the ongoing encounter with militants at Pampore, South Kashmir early Sunday morning, while leading from the front. The death toll currently stands at five.
Twenty-two-year-old Kumar was killed when the army stormed the EDI Complex at around midnight. The captain, who hails from Jind, Haryana, is from 10 Parachute Regiment and has been part of two successful operations in which three terrorists were killed.
Reacting to his death, Kumar’s father Rajbir Singh said he could not be prouder. “I had one chold, I gave him to the army, to the nation. No father can be prouder.”
Two to three militants are still believed to be holed up in the building, which has at least 25 rooms. Three CRPF jawans and a civilian were among the others killed
