Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called on Prime Minister of
Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim and held talks with his Malaysian counterpart Mohamad
Hasan here on Monday and discussed ways to further deepen bilateral defence
ties. Singh arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday on a three-day visit aimed at
further boosting bilateral defence and strategic ties.

India's 'most wanted' Al-Qaida terrorist, Ikramul Haque, has
been arrested in Bangladesh, along with his wife. Haque was the top leader of
the Dawah wing of the international terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda in the
Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). He was arrested after law enforcement officials in
India had been seeking him since last year. His wife, Faria Afrin, was
discovered to also be a member of the women's wing of the militant group, and
she fraudulently gained Indian citizenship.

Russian fighter jets have "harassed" American
drones over Syria for the third day in a row this week, the U.S. military said.
Tension between Russian and U.S. troops is not uncommon in Syria as both
countries conduct patrols on the ground as well as overflights. Syria's 12-year
conflict has left half a million people dead and over 1 million wounded.
Navy zeroes in on
naval Rafale; jet deal likely during PM Modi's France visit
The PM will be in France on July 13-14 during which he will
be the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade. The multi-billion dollar
deal for 24-30 Rafale-Marine jets is likely to be announced during his two-day
visit. Sources said that the Indian Navy has expressed its preference for the
French Rafale Marine over the F-18 Super Hornets of the US. Though there is no
clarity about the price, they are expected to be cheaper than the version
bought by the IAF earlier.
