PRASHANT BHUSHAN NATIONAL SECURITY AT THE ALTER OF VOTE BANK POLITICS

http://en.newsbharati.com//Encyc/2014/1/7/Playing-with-National-Security-at-the-alter-of-vote-bank-politics-.aspx PLAYING WITH NATIONAL SECURITY AT THE ALTER OF VOTE BANK POLITICS Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan today batted for lifting of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Jammu and Kashmir, saying it gave the Army immunity in cases of human rights violation while causing alienation amongst the people. Army’s deployment for internal security purposes should be effected only with the consent of people, except in cases where the rights of minorities need to be protected, he added. Bhushan, however, seemed to have moderated his earlier stand which had him , favouring the separation of Kashmir if that was what was wanted by the people of the State. He instead said that the separation of Kashmir Valley would be against the Indian Constitution and added that it may also cause harm to minorities like Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs who inhabit the state.“Allowing the separation of Kashmir may lead to a problem where you have a separate State where minority rights are not protected by the constitution. REFERENDUM IN THE KASHMIR VALLEY Prashant Bhushan had earlier called for a referendum in the Kashmir Valley on deciding whether the Army should remain in Jammu and Kashmir to deal with internal security threats.“People should be asked whether they want the Army to handle the internal security of Kashmir. Any decision which does not have the backing of the people is undemocratic. If people feel that the Army is violating human rights and they say they don't want the Army to be deployed for their security then the Army should be withdrawn from the hinterland,” Bhushan said in an interview to Aajtak’s Seedhi Baat programme. When pointed out that if the referendum suggests Kashmiris wanted to break away from India, Bhushan called for finding a solution within the constitutional purview.“Secession from India is unconstitutional. We have to find solutions within the purview of the Constitution. We have to win the hearts of people in the Valley who have moved away from the mainstream. Under attack for reportedly advocating a referendum on army deployment in Jammu and Kashmir, Bhushan said the deployment of armed forces in large numbers in the state must be done with people's wishes."The AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) is of the view that Kashmir is an integral part of India. Needless to say that I share this view," he said in a statement here. "Any reference to referendum shouldn't be misconstrued to mean plebiscite on Kashmir's relationship with India," he added. NATIONAL OUTRAGE .” The Congress,BJP and the National Conference, however, opposed Bhushan’s view on Kashmir.“Demilitarisation of J& K is a language that is being spoken by separatists in Pakistan. And Bhushan as a senior AAP leader is playing into the hands of the separatists by making such comments.Till the terror infrastructure in Pakistan is dismantled, any reduction in Army presence would be disastrous for the country and unacceptable to the people of India. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abudallah's political advisor Tanvir Sadiq too opposed Bhushan's views. Sadiq said, "There is an elected government in J&K and they along with the centre are the best judge of whether AFSPA should be kept or removed. National Conference too believes that AFSPA can be withdrawn from some areas but why does AAP want to politicise AFSPA?" Only Mehbooba Mufti's PDP supported Bhushan's call for a referendum on AFSPA. Party spokesperson Sameer Kaul said, "The heart and mind of AAP is in the right place. We are happy to hear about Bhushan's views."Off course it is well known that Kashmiri politicians cannot move around in Kashmir without large posse of armed policemen. Senior Army officers who have served in the valley were aghast at Bhushan's call for a referendum. Former Army chief General VP Malik said, "Prashant Bhushan has shown complete lack of awareness of the kind of situation that exists in J&K both in the hinterland and along LoC. It reflects poorly on his knowledge of politics and strategy. He has totally ignored the proxy war that Pakistan has waged over the last few decades. His comments have come as a great disappointment to people."Is Bhushan aware that as soon as US soldiers are withdrawn from Afghanistan, Thousands of Taliban terrorists will be redirected into the valley by Pakistan." ARVIND KEJRIWAL DISTANCES HIMSELF? KEJRIWAL has distanced himself and his party from Bushan's comment. But that is not enough. It is nice to see that party doesn't accept Bushan's views. More important is that - don't allow such people to talk on behalf of your party. The party should first formulate its views on all national issues, before making public pronouncements. It must be remembered that KEJRIWAL had earlier shared stage with a cleric with known communal views. . Prashant Bhushan has history of making statements in favour of Pakistan and separatists.. Check history on google, you tube. Please read RSN Singh's report on IBN Live on 13th December, where he exposes AAP's anti national links and backing by jihadis and USA. Also see earlier you tube video of Prashant Bhushan on Kashmir, it is even worse . DECIDING SECURITY ISSUES BY SMS POLLS Kashmir could see a Delhi style referendum if the Aam Aadmi Party were to form the next government at the centre. Bhushan had stirred a hornet's nest in September, 2011 when he had called for a plebiscite in Kashmir at a press conference in Varanasi and had said that Kashmir should be allowed to break away from India if Kashmiris did not want to stay as part of India. Prashant Bhushan's controversial comments come on a day the Aam Aadmi Party announced ambitious plans to contest the general elections of 2014 and the party's views on national issues are now being put under intense scrutiny. FEW QUESTIONS Mr Prashant Bhushan should be made to serve in the Indian Army deployed in the valley for a minimum tenure of at least one year to realise ground situation there. Few questions to Prashant Bhushan are as under :- (a) In the event of a riot or general mayhem in the country necessitating the Army's deployment (as in 1984) will a referendum be called before deployment? (b) Is AAP going to manage External and Internal security and Foreign Policy by referendums ? (C) If so what is the need for any Government ? All we need is a referendum holding authority and an implementing authority since the Aam Aadmi whom the AAP represents knows it all . God protect India from the politicians who are going to rule India by opinion polls. On many complex issues such as welfare, health and security, people do not have enough knowledge to decide for themselves. Why do we have Loksabha /Rajya Sabha? We want leaders to lead with wisdom. "The issues of national security cannot be decided by populism or referendum. They can only be decided on security considerations.
