Advice for SPI Cadets (April 12th)
Dear Cadets,
As your stay at
SPI concludes today, I am confident that each of you has grown immensely as an
aspiring candidate for the Armed Forces. While some of you may not have cleared
the NDA examination this time, remember: the journey does not end here. With sustained
effort, discipline, and a focused approach, there are multiple pathways through
which you can still serve the nation in uniform.
🔑
Essential Guidance
1. Medical
Examination – Your First Priority
- Before leaving SPI, undergo a complete medical
check-up with the team arranged by the Director at the local hospital.
- More than 30% of cadets fail entry despite
clearing exams due to medical issues.
- If permanent medical limitations exist, consider
alternative careers where standards are less stringent.
2. Explore
Multiple Entry Routes
- NDA may still remain an option for some.
- Other opportunities include:
- 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES)
- Technical Graduate Scheme (TGC)
- Short Service Commission (SSC)
- NCC Special Entry
- Create a calendar of examination dates to
track all opportunities until your last eligible attempt. This will help
you plan preparation systematically.
3. Identify
and Overcome Weaknesses
- Written Exam:
- Pinpoint weak subjects.
- Strengthen them through coaching, practice, and
disciplined study.
- SSB Interview:
- Analyze which stage you struggled with
(psychological tests, group tasks, personal interview).
- Work on those areas through practice and guidance.
- SPI will continue to organize SSB coaching
sessions—stay connected and attend them.
4. Keep
Alternative Options Open
- Apart from the Armed Forces, consider:
- CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) – easier
syllabus, similar preparation.
- Paramilitary Forces – BSF, CRPF, ITBP, etc.
- Intelligence Agencies – IB, RAW, and allied
institutions.
- UPSC Civil Services has very limited vacancies;
instead, focus on CAPF/PMF where chances are higher.
- Always keep 2–3 career options in hand—do
not restrict yourself to a single path.
🌟
Final Words
Your time at SPI
has given you discipline, resilience, and clarity of purpose. Carry these
qualities forward. Stay in touch with SPI and its faculty for guidance.
Remember, success in the Armed Forces—or any career—comes from consistent
effort, adaptability, and determination.
I wish each of
you the very best in your future endeavors. I am confident that many of you
will wear the uniform and serve the nation with pride.
