PM declares his FDs, Kamal Nath & Deora business interests

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh directed his cabinet colleagues to update details of their business interests, assets and liabilities. In the first such exercise last year, only two cabinet ministers had explicitly declared their interests in private companies — Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath and Corporate Affairs Minister Murli Deora.
Kamal Nath mentioned 23 companies in which either he or his family have a “business interest”. Deora declared that his wife has “pecuniary interest” in two companies.
The others gave a statement of assets and liabilities. Many, like Sharad Pawar, also gave the list of companies in which they held shares.
* According to information posted on the Prime Minister’s website, these are the major declarations made by some of the cabinet ministers for the year 2009-10.
Manmohan Singh: Fixed deposits, all in State Bank of India, amounting to Rs 2.7 crore. House in Chandigarh, estimated to be worth Rs 90 lakh. Flat in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, worth Rs 88 lakh.

P Chidambaram: Total assets worth Rs 1.04 crore, including shares in three companies. Other assets worth about Rs 35 lakh, including two cars, airconditioner, computer, treadmill, a bicycle, cordless phone and inverter and battery.
A K Antony: Savings of less than a lakh. House and plot of land worth Rs 15 lakh each in the name of wife. Has a second-hand Wagon R car, purchased after taking a loan of Rs 1.36 lakh.
Pranab Mukherjee: Net assets worth Rs 1.1 crore, including two flats and a plot of land.
S M Krishna: Immovable property worth Rs 2.34 lakh, movable assets worth Rs 4.81 lakh, investments worth Rs 3 lakh, and savings worth Rs 12 lakh. Wife’s assets total Rs 21 lakh.
Kamal Nath: Business interest in 23 companies, including Span Motels Pvt Ltd, Span Air Pvt Ltd, Span Agro Properties, Span Plantations, Span Beach Resorts and EMC Alloys. Land worth Rs 2.67 crore in Sultanpur, Delhi, cash and bank balance Rs 1.41 crore. Wife has properties worth Rs 2.3 crore. Two sons and a daughter-in-law have shares in more than 20 companies.
Sharad Pawar: Movable assets worth about Rs 7 crore, including that of his spouse. Immovable assets worth about Rs 3.6 crore. Deposits in companies worth Rs 46.5 lakh. Wife has deposits in several companies worth a total of about Rs 1.05 crore.
Murli Deora: House worth Rs 62 lakh, plot of land worth Rs 93 lakh, proprietorship of ‘Deora Brothers’. Movable assets worth Rs 4.64 crore, wife has another Rs 9.01 crore. Wife has proprietorship of ‘La Masion’. She has controlling stake in two more companies — Accumen Properties and Staywell Properties.
Dayanidhi Maran: Savings worth Rs 46 lakh, term deposits worth Rs 1 crore, shareholdings in RIL, Reliance Communications, RNRL and DK Enterprises. Wife has jewellery worth Rs 52.15 lakh, savings of Rs 8.5 lakh. She has shares in five companies including RIL.
Salman Khursheed: Five plots of land in his and his family’s name worth a total of Rs 2.35 crore. Flat worth Rs 50 lakh in Delhi. Wife has two flats in Goa, total worth Rs 8.25 lakh. Cash in the family’s name worth Rs 2.25 crore.
Kapil Sibal: Immovable assets worth about Rs 16.25 crore, bank deposits worth about Rs 65 lakh, investments in shares about Rs 40 lakh, jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh. Others assets worth about Rs 4.75 crore. Has five cars including the electric Reva

  1. These bloody hails are lying! It is not sufficient to declare their properties and income, but the most important thing is that they have to declare the sources of their properties and income!
    All Hindusthanis should come together and beat these demons!
